Basketball NZ has announced they will be partnering with ABSL (and Franklin Basketball) to deliver a three-year programme into South Auckland.
Funded under the Sport NZ "Strengthen and Adapt" initiative, $1million over three years will go into supporting development of community-based basketball.
Recruitment of three roles across Counties-Manukau and Franklin is underway - to increase community engagement (including non-traditional basketball participants), find innovative ways for the community to experience basketball and build sustainable basketball programmes.
The programme will have specific focus on women and girl’s development, investigating innovative spaces and places to play and club development.
Next newsletter we hope to introduce you to the successful appointees and provide a narrative of their first-year approach to the project.
