Run and Gun Review

Our second Run and Gun Club Challenge went down Sunday and ABSL club challenge had 26 teams over both the under 9, under 11 and under 13 age group.

ASB stadium was the venue as all our young club members put on their club jerseys and got to work, after all players were registered it was time for the games to happen.

With 26 teams all playing hard it was an intense start when the games started we had a few close games with 2-4 points deciding the winners and what started off being a fun brand of basketball became intense and competeitive as we got closer and closer to the finals.

The Run and Gun had their first special guest coaches come through at 11am which were the NZ junior Tall blacks, the huge up and coming stars were welcoming by our players and coached and even played with club players during their time. They were followed by the under 18 Junior Tall Ferns who were both great inspirations to our young players that saw what can happen if they work hard and set goals.

We had 2 Clubs join in on the action for the first time.

Otara Orcas made their Run and Gun Debut with some very close games losing a few by only  1 point, huge talent coming out of Otara and a great first tournament for both their Minipod and the under 13 teams.

Franklin Basketball had 4 teams pariticpate and at a very successful level. The Franklin Kings were highly skilled and could shoot the lights out when needed the u9 Falcons were focused and gave it their best shot.

Overall the day was full of Fun and Hoops and we are looking forward to seeing how big it gets next term when we host the 3rd Event.

Congratulations to Our Winners

Under 13: Otahuhu Taniwha Navy

Under 11: Franklin Kings

Under 9: Orakei Tigers.
