Robbie Coman | ACM Under 15 Boys 

Robbie Coman is a year 8 player playing out of Kohimarama School, This year he played Played for both the Under 15 B and A Squads for ACM, Robbie competed in the Under 15 National Tournament in Wellington over the July Holiday and was a huge part of their success getting a 4th place finish.

Robbie has played his entire basketball career through Auckland basketball and this is his first year in ACM , He plays a Power Forward and is a smart defensive player that uses his size to his advantage and does all the little things that help teams win. During a pool game at the nationals Robbie earned a double double in 23 minutes with 20 points and 11 rebounds coming off the bench and was an efficient scorer in the Semi final.

During an interview at ACM Camp Robbie claimed that his strengths are his post ups and playing hard defense in the post. He has said he needed to work on his fitness and speed to get to the next level. Which this year he can tick off with an increase in playing time in the final quarters of many games.

Lebron James and the Miami Heat are Robbie’s Favourite player and team and he said that coming 3rd at under 13 nationals in 2013 was his biggest achievement in his young basketball career.

We interviewed the Under 15 Boys Assistant coach Nick Mailau and asked what he thought abour Robbie he said “"People say that  it takes a while for the game to slow down for younger players, but for Robbie it was never fast in the first place.” Nick also mentioned how Robbie was the perfect culture guy for the team and fitted straight in once he was selected.

Robbie Had a great year internationally as well participating in the Under 14 Koru team that took gold at the Albury Country Cup in Australia.

We can’t wait to see where robbies basketball will take him but are optimistic with the work ethic he has it’s going to be on to great things. Keep working Robbie.
