Ngapipi Herewini | 2015 Under 17 Girls 

Ngapipi Herewini is a power forward / center for the Under 17 ACM Girls team, she originally comes from Counties Manukau where she learnt fundamentals under ABSL and Counties Manukau Chairperson Georgie Whitihera, and with that gainied very strong fundamentals through her time which she has developed into a defensive threat and has slowly improved on her inside finishing.

Ngapipi’s favourite player is Candice Parker of the L.A Sparks for her athleticism and competitive spirit. Ngapipi shares the same athletic gene with her younger sisters Sophie and Tiana who also play in ACM and Counties Manukau teams.

She lists her strengths as being able to get to the basket and nail a mid range jumper and also that she has a persistent defensive presence when she’s around the rim, things that she thinks she needs to work on are her strength and fitness levels going into each season.

In her interview during the ACM camp she noted that she enjoys playing with her ACM team mate Rionne Papa who is also related because they really know each other’s strengths and that she enjoys playing with family.

In the long term Ngapipi would love to represent her country in basketball and continue to improve in all aspects of the game, She mentioned that her favourite coach is ABSL coach Tania Hunter and talks about Tania in saying that “She's (Tania) been with me from the very start, she always wants kids to improve and do the best to their abilities. Tania is one of those coaches that always makes time for her team like trainings and games, even though she is a busy woman.”

Ngapipi had an amazing ACM 2015 season with the u17 girls, starting every game and being a dominating weak side defender and always being around when her team mates need her, She started the year in the first game by scoring the first 16 points of the quarter, with talent like that she will be on her way to achieving her goal in no time
