ABSL wants to congratulate Anzac Rissetto and Marvin Williams-Dunn (both from Basketball Auckland) for making the New Zealand U17 team that are currently touring the Philippines. The team travelled to Manila last Wednesday to prepare for the U16 FIBA Asia Championships which will be held in October.
Anzac and Marvin are part of an eight day programme which former Tall Blacks coach Tab Baldwin has organised. Baldwin was previously the Gilas Pilipinas head coach but has recently stepped down. He still advises the Filipino national programme and is a head coach at Ataneo University. The team will be staying at the university compound throughout the duration of their tour. Through his connections with both New Zealand and Filipino programmes he has given the U17 New Zealand team a great opportunity to prepare for the Asia Championships.
The team will play seven games against local universities and two games against the Filipino National U16 team.
Anzac and Marvin have done ABSL proud and all their hard work and dedication to basketball is paying off!
