Over the past 3 months our Coach Development team have been working hard in the community to upskill coaches of all levels holding 15 courses within our communities covering Beginners, Kiwi Hoops, Community Coach Level 1, and Student Coaches. This has seen nearly 100 coaches either begin their coaching journey or add another string to their bow.
Our Beginner and Kiwi Hoops courses are for coaches of primary school age players (ages 5 to 13) in schools, clubs and associations. These coaches are those who will play a key part in making sure our junior players of today have a great first experience and develop a life long love of basketball.
To show there are more pathways than just playing, our student coach courses are integral to sowing the seeds for our future coaches. These coaches will be key in giving back not only to their school teams but also their communities with many of these coaches also being involved in cluster and club activities. These courses are delivered in partnership with the local High Schools to help remove as many barriers as possible.
The Community Coach Level 1 is for coaches of secondary school players (ages 13 to 18) and adult players in clubs and associations, these coaches play an important role in making sure we can develop and harness the great talent we have within our community.
We are excited to be a part of these coaches’ journey and cannot wait to celebrate their successes with them and their players.
