The semi-finals of the Supercity Competition were played over the weekend. All nine ABSL teams played hard to determine their final placing games, which will take place this weekend. The games were played at Allan Brewster Leisure Centre as CMBB teams got to experience home court advantage. In the girl’s competition, CMBB played in the 1st/2nd place semi-final and suffered a heartbreaking loss to a strong Waikato team. Despite the setback CMBB U13 girls will be looking to grab that 3rd place as the result sees them playing in the 3/4th place game this weekend.
Four of our U13 boy’s teams played against each other as BA U13 A’s played against the CMBB Spurs in the 5-8 place semi-finals and CMBB Celtics faced WWABi Prems in the championship semi-final. BA U13 A’s and CMBB Celtics came away with hard fought wins which sees BA playing for 5/6th place and CMBB Celtics playing in the final against Harbour A. A great result for CMBB Celtics as they prepare themselves for the biggest game of their young representative careers.
The other four teams had a 50/50 record as WWABi A and CMBB U12’s suffered losses in their respective semi-final placing games to Coast and Harbour Supersonics. Both teams will be playing for 11/12th place and 15/16th place respectively. CMBB Warriors came away with a nail-biting win over Harbour Hotshots to put them in 9/10th place final. In the other game BA U13 B notched up their second win of the season as they beat Harbour Rockets. This puts BA U13 B in the 13/14th place final.
All of the teams will be training hard over the week to prepare for their final Supercity Competition games. All games will be played at Breakers Courts over the Shore so come out and support all the players.
