BBNZ ’National Style of Play’ Coaching Clinic a Success!

ABSL was proud to host the BBNZ ‘National Style of Play’ Coaching Clinic on Thursday 1st of March. The clinic was held at Epsom Girls Grammar and was led by ‘BBNZ High Performance Manager’ Leonard King, who flew up from Wellington. It was a great way for Auckland’s up and coming coaches to enhance their coaching knowledge and take note of new drills/concepts that BBNZ wants to implement within the grassroots and representative programmes.

The clinic had a great turn out and around 30+ coaches attended the clinic. Some coaches from around New Zealand made the trip up to Auckland to learn from Leonard. Another great aspect about the clinic was how it featured players from ABSL’s new women’s franchise ‘Auckland Dream’. The players demonstrated the drills to all the coaches who were observing closely. The ‘Dream’ features a mixture of the best players from the Central Auckland, Counties and Waitakere West Associations. They will be representing Auckland in the upcoming Women’s Basketball Championships (WBC) later this year.

A special thanks to Leonard King and Auckland Dream Head Coach Aik Ho for organising the clinic and providing the opportunity for all the coaches who attended the chance to learn about the new style of play that will benefit teams all across New Zealand. All the coaches who attended are integral to the success of New Zealand’s new generation of basketballers. Keep up the great work and like players there is always something new to learn in the coaching space every day!
