Auckland Basketball Services (ABSL), together with the basketball associations that ABSL represents – Basketball Auckland, Counties Manukau Basketball and Waitakere West Auckland Basketball, are proud to announce their new vehicle fleet partner, Mazda New Zealand.

The delivery of the stunning new Mazda fleet is a three-year commitment, which supports the fastest growing secondary school sport in New Zealand. It allows ABSL to service basketball players in Auckland, Counties Manukau and Waitakere West Auckland.

Basketball is on track to be the most popular secondary school sport in New Zealand. This creates the need to scale to ensure capacity and resources can meet the increasing needs of our youth.

In addition, Mazda have also extended their support to the Etco Auckland Dream who play in the highly competitive Sal's NBL.

Mazda New Zealand’s Managing Director David Hodge says the decision to sponsor basketball is a no brainer.

"Basketball epitomises everything that is good about community sport. The volunteers donating their time to help train and support youth development, the comradery and support the team dynamics, and the ongoing development of giving back to the sport is part of the basketball’s DNA."

ABSL needs vehicles to support the development of more competitions, youth development and referee and coaching programmes. With Mazda providing a fleet to enable mobility to the widely spread community, they help limited funds stretch even further.

Hodge says the partnership with basketball is a strong fit with Mazda’s network of dealerships around the Auckland region, "Our organisations have similar values around looking after the people we serve, and we wanted to give back to the communities that support us."

ABSL CEO, Rob Wakelin, says the agreement is a huge and welcome boost for the basketball movement in Auckland, as the start of the season quickly approaches. "Our staff need access to high quality, reliable transport in order to support our network of clubs, so we are delighted to have a fleet that is exclusively Mazda. This kind of support from our commercial vehicle partner is valuable and makes a real difference at the front-line."
