ABSL Community Talanoa Update

Tena koutou Basketball Community,

This week we completed the last of our three community talanoa, with Counties Manukau, Auckland and Waitakere West Auckland Associations . Thank you to all those who were able to attend, and for your contribution to the discussion.

Through the conversation we have learnt that there are many areas of common ground and others where there are different views and approaches. The one clear message was the need to work together as a community to support basketball development in Counties Manukau, Central, and West Auckland. To achieve this unity there is going to need to be further conversation and collaborative development of a model to support basketball development.

We have a number of actions to follow up on from the three talanoa, this will include sessions for targeted groups within basketball over the coming weeks, and you will receive invitations to these.

On the representative calendar for 2021, there will be a meeting of the working group next week (which includes representation from all Associations) to confirm the calendar for 2021 (subject to the BBNZ final calendar). We will be in a position to meet with those of you involved in the rep programme in early November to going over this.

In the meantime, if you have any questions or comments you would like to raise then happy for you to email me directly (ivan@absl.basketball) or please be in touch with your Association board members.

Nga mihi nui,

Ivan Harre
