Following the most recent lockdown and over 100 days of Basketball not being able to be delivered inside, we knew our community were hungry to get back on the court. Thanks to our funders (Henderson-Massey Local Board, Orakei Local Board, Papakura Local Board, Otara-Papatoetoe Local Board, NZCT, Pub Charity, The Trusts Community Foundation) and venues (Barfoot & Thompson Stadium, The Trusts Arena, YMCA Pitt St and Unitec Sports Centre) who opened their doors and worked with us to deliver 14 sessions, catering for 54 teams and over 500 players in a safe and environment adhering to current government protocols. We were also able to offer free court access to a number of our affiliated clubs to help them once again engage their membership, we were also happy to be able to assist Legacy Wildcats, Papakura Bears Sports and The Rosehill Raptors access Alan Brewster Leisure Centre and Pulman Arena. All these events were held at no cost to the participants and we are thankful we could have the chance to give back to our communities and help reconnect after such a long time away.
