BBNZ U13 Northern Regional Championships Re-Cap

The BBNZ U13 Northern Regional Championships were held last week at Pulman Arena during the second week of the term 3 school holidays. ABSL was proud to host all Northern Region Associations who travelled to compete in one of New Zealand’s best basketball facilities.

Associations that travelled to South Auckland came from as far as Northland, Tauranga and Rotorua. Some of New Zealand’s best coaches were also present to Talent ID the future of New Zealand basketball for next year’s BBNZ U14 National Talent Programme.

The four day tournament was a great experience for our Basketball Auckland, Counties Manukau Basketball and Waitakere West Auckland teams as they got to feel the great atmosphere from all the supporters. The visiting teams really gave our ABSL teams great challenges and produced some really entertaining games for the supporters to enjoy.

For all bottom aged athletes (11 year olds), the tournament was the beginning of their respective representative basketball journeys and now that the U13 representative season has concluded, top aged (12 year olds) athletes will now look forward to the U15 trials which will be getting underway next week. A special thank you to all referees, coaches, managers and supporters for their commitment throughout the U13 representative season.
